Maharashtra Masters Of Computer Application Common Entrance Test (MAH-MCA-CET)
What is it?
Government of Maharashtra conducts a Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to first year of three year full time regular post graduate degree course in Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
The MAH-MCA-CET would be administered by the Competent Authority, on its own or in collaboration with or through a professional agency with proven record of its competence and experience in such process of personnel selection through competitive examinations.
Colleges you can apply for :
- Approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
- Recognized by the Government of Maharashtra.
- Affiliated to any one of the ten Non Agricultural/Non Technological Universities in Maharashtra state.
Following are the types of Institutes in the Maharashtra state covered by these rules;
- All Government Institutes offering MCA course.
- All Government Aided Institutes offering MCA Course.
- All University Departments offering MCA course.
- University Managed Institutes offering MCA course.
- All Un-Aided MCA Institutes and / or its Association who have given consent to participate in the CAP rounds conducted by the State Government.

Who can appear :
Basic Qualification: In order to secure admission to first year of three-year full time MCA course, the candidate should fulfill the following eligibility criteria;
Passed with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate* ( 40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.
OR
Appeared** for the final year examination of any Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Such candidates can be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the Degree exam with minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.
Eligibility Criteria for admission to Maharashtra State candidates for the seats coming under CAP :
- Candidate should be an Indian National & should possess basic qualification as specified above
- Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MAH-MCA-CET of the current year.
Eligibility Criteria for admissions to OMS candidates :
- Candidate should be an Indian National & should possess basic qualification as specified above
- Appeared and qualified in AIMCET of the current year for seeking admission to MCA.
OR
Appeared and qualified in the Common Entrance Test MAH-MCA-CET of the current year.
TopExam Pattern
- The MAH-MCA-CET examination comprises of two papers having multiple choice objective type questions of 2 hours duration to be answered on Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer sheet.
- Paper I: General Aptitude (GA) and Paper II: Computer Concepts (CC).
- Each of the two papers is of one hour duration having maximum of 100 marks and contains 25 objective type questions.
- The question paper for the CET will be set in English only. Translations in any other languages will not be available.

The cities in which CET is conducted are designated as centre for the CET. Each centre will have several venues depending upon the number of candidate due to appear at that centre. A candidate applying for the CET would have the freedom to choose his/her centre but shall not have freedom to choose the venue.

Negative Marking :
Please note the negative mark system. Each correct answer will carry 4 marks. Each wrong answer will carry 1 negative mark. Unanswered questions will carry zero marks.

MHT CET stands for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. It is also known as Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET). This is a State Level Examination conducted annually by the Government of Maharashtra. MHT CET is taken by candidates to take admission to Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy and Pharm.
